Nonesuch Records releases How I Knew Her—the label debut from Nataly Dawn, the California-based singer/songwriter of the duo Pomplamoose—on February 12, 2013. The album—comprising 12 autobiographical, introspective songs by Dawn—was produced by her longtime partner Jack Conte and recorded with a group of accomplished musicians at Prairie Sun Studios in Cotati, CA, where many of her favorite Tom Waits albums had been made.
Lauren O'Connell
Lauren O'Connell's songs are essentially what would happen if Beck, and Bob Dylan sat together and wrote songs for a voice, that can only be described as an Angelic child singing with bluegrass inflections, and a hint of whiskey at the back of the throat. Its memorizing. An innocent sincerity (without an inkling of victim hood). She is a 21 year old New York native with proud Irish roots and dual citizenship, who plays rootsy indie folk music in the vein of Jeff Tweedy that is sure to melt your heart. The most important tool in Lauren's bag of instruments is her creativity. Whether she is playing the guitar, banjo, bass, keyboard, or a tennis racket and a pile of pennies, Lauren focuses on making the perfect sound to accompany her melodic words and voice.
