A talk show about the dark art of comedy hosted by the otherworldly comedian and mystic, Dale Seever. On this live episode, Dale welcomes a comedians, cartoonists, and creature enthusiasts including Emily Flake (The New Yorker), Kenice Mobley (Two Dope Queens), Julia Shiplett (HBO’s Crashing), and Andrew Tisher (The Chris Gethard Show) & Joe Rumrill (The Special Without Brett Davis). On Wednesday, March 14th, Deep Night with Dale is live at The Slipper Room in NYC for another edition of his acclaimed talk show. Comedy, crystals, and creatures of the night will be discussed with a stellar lineup of guests and a host made of stardust. Called a “must listen for anyone interested in the art of comedy,” the show has proven Dale’s uncanny ability to highlight the next generation of cultural talents. With a guest list that has included such luminaries as John Early, Kate Berlant, Jo Firestone, Aparna Nancherla, Ilana Glazer, Bridget Everett, Cole Escola, Janelle James, Jackie Kashian, Matt Besser, Chris Gethard, Elle King, Lola Kirke, and Sasheer Zamata among others, seeing the show is almost like seeing the future of entertainment.

About the Host:

Your guide through the Deep Night is the Dale Seever (aka comedian James Bewley). In his black turtleneck and with an owl-shaped amulet around his neck, Dale opens up a portal to an hour of regrets, revelations, and rising stars. Dale has performed across the country to sold-out halls and enthusiastic crowds in bars, basements, and theaters of every size.

James Bewley is a Brooklyn-based performer whose work has been presented as part of numerous comedy and storytelling shows across the country. Deep Night with Dale welcomes an eclectic lineup of comedians, artists, and other creatures of the night to talk about their lives and creative pursuits. Bewley trained at Upright Citizens Brigade and has made regular appearances at Joe’s Pub, Ars Nova, NYC Podfest, SF Sketchfest, Union Hall, Littlefield, and UCB NY among other fine venues.

About the Guests:

EMILY FLAKE began cartooning for The New Yorker in 2008, and has had more than a hundred cartoons published in the magazine since. Her cartoons and illustrations have also appeared in Mad Magazine, the New York Times, the New Statesman, the Wall Street Journal, the Globe and Mail, and in many other publications. Her book “These Things Ain’t Gonna Smoke Themselves” (Bloomsbury USA) was published in 2007, and she wrote and illustrated “Mama Tried,” a book of essays and cartoons released in 2015. Along with NPR’s Ophira Eisenberg, she is the co-host of the semi-regular event Shitshow about modern parenting and has appeared on numerous comedy and storytelling shows in NYC.

KENICE MOBLEY is a standup comedian and filmmaker who splits her time between Boston and New York. Kenice performs stand up comedy around the country and participated in the Women in Comedy Festival, San Francisco Sketchfest, and the Bridgetown Comedy Festival this year. She recently performed on the Two Dope Queens show and appeared on two episodes of Laughs on FOX. She hosts Person About Town, an interview and relationship podcast available as part of the Women In Comedy Podcast Network.

JULIA SHIPLETT is a writer, comedian and storyteller in Brooklyn, hailing from Chicago.
She has performed around the country, including the Bridgetown Comedy Festival, the Brooklyn Comedy Festival and Hell Yes Fest to name a few. Julia has also been featured on the Moth Radio Hour and made it to the 2015 StandUp NBC semifinals. She will be making her television debut on the next season of HBO's Crashing. You can catch her every Monday night on Side Ponytail, a popular weekly comedy show she co-produces at Friends and Lovers in Crown Heights.

ANDREW TISHER is an actor, improviser and writer from Napa, CA. He spent several years performing in Chicago before moving to New York City. In Chicago he performed at the Annoyance, Upstairs Gallery, and at the iO Theater with the Harold teams Neapolitan, Sports Team and Goldstar. He currently directed and performed in The Annoyance Theater's Holy Fuck Comedy Hour and improvises with the New York Improv Frogs. He is one half of both the sketch duo Be Good Boys and the musical improv duo Selfish Green Men.

JOE RUMRILL is a stand-up comedian and writer who performs regularly in venues throughout the city. His work has been featured in Seriously.TV, Splitsider, and the Village Voice. Joe can often be seen playing various characters on the weekly MNN series The Special Without Brett Davis. He's the creator of Fresh Perspectives a popular weirdo comedy showcase in Williamsburg that has been featured in the Brooklyn Comedy Festival and he is the co-creator of the popular Cartoon Monsoon, a monthly UNeducational "children's" variety show bursting with puppets, animation and costumed characters at Union Hall in Brooklyn.
